The Town Forum Certificate of Appreciation reads:

  • This month's Berea Town Forum Hall of Fame Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to the 3 generations of Dettmers who are the founders and owners of the Berea Printing Company.
  • They are:
    • Dick Dettmer ("The acorns didn't fall far from this oak tree") for his contribution to our community in the Masons for more than 50 years, Kiwanis for more than 40 years, Berea Printing for more than 30 years, and Berea City Council for 10 years.
    • Jim Dettmer ("Do unto others...") for his contribution to our community at Berea Printing for more than 30 years, the Masons for 25 years, Rotary for 20 years, Berea City Council for 4 years, and long-time Treasurer for 4 additional civic organizations.
    • Jeff Dettmer ("The tradition continues...") for his contribution to our community as a recipient of Baldwin-Wallace's Outstanding Graduate award, at Berea Printing, on the Finance Committee of Strongsville Methodist Church, as a Trustee of Berea Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of Strongsville Community Band.
  • Thirty-two years ago, Dick and Jim bought a used printing press and set it up in Jim's basement. As the business grew, they moved to the room behind O'Neil's and, finally, to the former U-Rent Em Building on Front Street where all three generations of Dettmers now run their successful business. Berea Town Forum salutes you as civic-minded citizens, successful businessmen, and devoted family men.
